Simple conjuctivitis

The conjunctiva is often very sensitive to external irritants and unilateral strains.

Symptoms

  • The feeling of having ‘something in one’s eye’
  • Red eyes
  • Stinging and itching
  • Increased lacrimation (i.e. production, secretion and shedding of tears)
  • Secretion of a mucous substance (frequently but not always)

This may be due to:

  • Bright light, high ozone exposure and air-conditioners
  • Draughts and dust
  • Excessive strain through reading or long hours at the computer screen
  • Contact lenses
