Good Health Guide - Injuries to the skin

Sunburn and burns

How you can prevent sunburn:

The simplest protection against sunburn is shade. When directly exposed to the sun, it is important to use a suitable sunscreen for your skin type. Light clothing provides airy shade for the skin. Do not forget to cover your head! Avoid spending long periods in intense heat and sunbathing for too long, especially around midday. You can only treat minor 1st degree burns yourself. All other burns, which are associated with great pain and blistering (2nd or even 3rd degree), should be treated by experienced doctors. If children are sunburnt, a doctor should generally be consulted.

  • Reddening of the skin without blisters
  • Moderate pain
  • Sensitivity to touch
