Good Health Guide - Injuries to the skin

Wounds

Symptoms:

  • Scratched skin
  • Cuts
  • Weeping, poorly healing wounds

What you can do

Fresh cuts should initially be allowed to bleed in order to flush out any germs that may have got into them. Afterwards, maintain a moist wound environment by applying a hydrocolloid plaster across the direction of the cut, gently pressing together the edges of the wound. Carefully clean dirt-ingrained grazes with marigold essence. In the event of injuries caused by the penetration of foreign bodies (rusty nails, shards of glass etc.), bites or extremely dirty or heavily bleeding wounds, always visit a doctor.
